So, Friday was a big mess trying to get into the UK. In all of my travels, I've never had so many problems. I answered the questions like I always do and then, casually mentioned I planned to do some volunteer work while in England and that was my grave mistake. Apparently, I violated paragraph 16 of the Act of 1971, which I looked up on the web and I can't figure out what I "violated." I asked the immigration officers numerous times why I was held and they were very vague, but it was because I wanted to volunteer. I cannot believe that the British persecute museum volunteers!! Four hours of questions, fingerprinting (and some of the ink still won't come off!), and pictures taken. Josh came to pick me up and he was also questioned. I usually try to defend the British for some of their abnormalities, but anymore.
I'm settling now-plan to pick up my British car today or tomorrow. I'm going shopping for a phone today-I don't know where the bus stop is or how to get to city centre, so it should be interesting.
Have a Happy New Year!!

Bought a car
I finally found a car-it's a red Hyundai Lantra. I don't know much about cars, but it seems really nice. However, it is a manual, so I'm a little concerned about shifting gears with my left hand. It should be interesting. It is located about 50 miles from Leeds, so I will get practice trying to drive it back to Leeds. My first goal will be to figure out where I live and how to get back home when driving, then I'll work on getting to city centre and back home. I'm sure I'll get lost a few times, but practice makes perfect.

Slowly getting ready
I'm completely moved out of my apartment in Wichita, I miss it. However, it's good being able to spend time with the family while living in Burrton.
I can't believe I move in less than 3 weeks-the time is going by so fast. I put my 2 weeks notice in at Carriage-I know it's weird that I still work there, but I'm going to miss my cp-workers a lot and Carriage on a whole.
The next few weeks I will be working out the details-I applied for my Visa and got my International DL, I'm currently working on transferring my US HSBC bank account to London.

First Post
I thought this would be a great way for friends and family to keep in touch with me while I'm in England. I will try to keep it updated.
